The Enabler Among Us

Having an addiction, whether it be to drugs, alcohol, gambling, or other harmful behaviors, is rarely the fault of one person. Often times the addict will not be able to support themselves due to their destructive behavior, and will instead rely on an enabler.

An enabler is a person who allows the addict to continue leading their harmful lifestyle which only prolongs the problem. There are many types of enablers, but the two most common are those who are too scared to seek help and those who are simply trying to help or protect the addict.

Enablers Who Fear Consequences

Often times when a person drinks, does drugs, or partakes in any other harmful activities, their entire personality changes. Drinking in particular is known for turning a once kind individual into an extremely violent person at the drop of a hat. When violence is added to the equation, many enablers may be too scared to seek help. For example, a loving man and woman may get married and live a happy life for many years. Suddenly times get hard and the man turns to drinking to help ease his (Read More....)

Gonna Have to Face it; You’re Addicted to Lust

Sex is an embarrassing thing for me to talk about or even write about. I blush every time I attempt it, and yet it is a very important aspect of life. I recently watched a video on YouTube that helped me to understand some things I had never realized.

I have been indoctrinated. I have been lied to. All those people I trusted through the years, the experts, the magazines, even TV and movies, they have all lied to me. They told me that lust was the answer. That I needed to fantasize and watch porno and touch myself to have better sex. That I needed stimulation and release.
They lied.

Lately, I had been hearing more and more about people who were no longer satisfied with real sex because of their addiction to pornography and masturbation. I could not figure out what they were doing wrong. I mean, that is what all the media sources tell us to do for better sex, not worse. That is what the scientists and experts say. Even psychiatrists prescribe porno for sexual issues. Of course, all those people can’t be wrong… Can they?

Well, apparently they are. And it is not (Read More....)

When Having Sex Turns Into An Addiction

Sex addiction is the compulsive need to have sexual intercourse as frequently as possible.  There are numerous theories as to why a person becomes a sex addict that include, but are not limited to:

  • Personality disorder
  • Psychological disorder
  • Emotional issues
  • Low self-esteem
  • Childhood trauma
  • And coping from a troubled past

If left untreated, an addiction to sex can lead to serious physical, mental and emotional issues.  A sex addiction can happen to any person, but there is treatment available. Treatment options include programs such as:

  • Group counseling
  • Live in rehab
  • Individual therapy
  • And outpatient rehab

There is not one program right for everywhere, so before choosing a program a person should talk to a professional about how to better serve them during the recovery process.

Am I living with a sex addiction?

  • Unlike other addictions, a sex addiction is often overlooked as a serious problem.  Individuals often suffer from this condition and (Read More....)

10 Reasons Why American Men Should Think Twice Before They Judge Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods Scandal Cheating Adultery

As more details of the Tiger Woods scandal come out, tabloids have been running such splashy headlines as "TIGER GIRL RACHEL CANCELS PRESS CONFERENCE - - $1 MILLION PAYOFF ALLEGED!!!"  It seems like the American media and even large portions of the American people are all too eager to absolutely trash someone who was once one of the nation's greatest heroes.  Without clearly admitting guilt, Tiger Woods has at least taken partial responsibility for whatever it is that he did.  In a statement posted on Tiger's website on Wednesday, Tiger acknowledged his "transgressions" that "let my family down" while at the same time pleading with the press for some privacy.   But this scandal just seems to get bigger by the hour.

Yes, if Tiger Woods did commit adultery that is a very bad and very ugly thing and he was very, very wrong.  But why should this be sensationalized and celebrated endlessly in the media?  Perhaps the men of America (Read More....)

Sex Addiction

turn-away1Modern America has evolved into a society where television, movies, music, video games and the Internet constantly bombard our senses with provocative sexual message and imagery. We might as well face it - America is addicted to sex.

One of America's dirty little secrets is that it is now a nation that is completely addicted to pornography. One Focus on the Family survey found that 47% percent of families said that pornography is a problem in their homes. America's young men are particularly addicted - more than 70% of all men between the ages of 18 and 34 visit a pornographic site in a typical month.

The Internet has made access to pornography easier than ever before, and instead of getting bored with it, Americans seem to want more of it than ever. In fact, an increasing number of Americans are not even waiting to get home to view it.

Newsweek is reporting the results of a new survey that reveal that 25 percent of American employees who have Internet access visit porn websites while they are at work.

So if you are in an office with at least 3 coworkers, the odds are that at least one of you is looking at porn while you (Read More....)
