Simply because she's a star doesn't suggest she isn't human identical to you and me. All of us make mistakes and her errors are minuscule compared to many drug offenders. Before you begin judging take a look within the mirror if you haven't in a while. Wishing dangerous on one other individual is dangerous karma. You all just want you had the luxuries she has however you understand you'll NEVER have them since your too jaded and just plain trailer trash dumb. Perhaps you need to get a job and stop taking a handout from uncle Sam.

I believe in a higher power (of which we are ALL a part no matter what any of us might believe). I am not a Christian anymore, although I once was -- for about 7 years. I was actually a devout Pentacostal (Holy Roller, speak in toungues type of Christian), until my logical thoughts regarding spirituality and life after death, could no longer be subdued by "Blind-leading-the-Blind Faith". I am not here to bash Christianity or Christians. We are all free to believe what we want to believe, and as long as we are not trying to physically force people into believing what we believe, or killing them if they're unwilling to convert, whatever anyone believes is fine if they're happy in those beliefs. As for myself, I have found solace and complete peace of mind in regards to my eventual mortal demise, through the belief that God is in all of us, and it is unto God that WE ALL shall return, regardless of what we come to believe or say or do in this life. (There is no such thing as hell. We will ALL be going to heaven because we will ALL be returning to that which is the Source of ALL Life.) So, now that I've set the stage and you know where I'm coming from -- I have smoked marijuana off and on for 31 years. Even when I was a Christian. Because I have always believed that God put Cannibus on the Earth for a reason. 1.) Because Cannibus calms us, reduces stress, and makes us feel better about life in general, when we're experiencing it's effects -- which is a state that lasts for only a few hours after use. Therefore, it is a natural "no-cost" (or could be) alternative to the much stronger and highly addictive prescription drugs that the pharmaceutical companies charge us an arm and a leg for, and keep pushing on us. 2.) Based on my experience as a long-term user, I can say without a doubt that marijuana use results in a SHARPENING of one's sight, smell, taste, sense of touch, and creative thinking, when your under it's influence. While motor skills, short-term memory, time/space judgement, and pain reception is negatively affected at this time, (which the negative effects on pain reception is a good thing) I believe this to be due to a reallocation of energy resources within one's body, required for the increased sensing abilities previously mentioned as well as the one to follow. 3.) I believe that in addition to the positive sensing abilities previously mentioned, that one's LINK TO GOD (the Source of All Life that is at the "core" of us all) and to their higher selves (not meant as a pun), is also highly improved. Therefore, marijuana use brings you CLOSER TO GOD during your experience of it's effects. -- And it may very well be that this more openness to God brings other possible benefits in the way of increased natural healing as well. -- And, as for the increase in creative thinking -- this could very well be the result of God (The Source) more fully opening one's mind to the realities of the universe, the true virtues of man, and a truer understanding of life and human existence. It could also be that marijuana was provided by God to help us relax and better manage our stresses, and curb our potential for stress-related violence. Whatever anyone else might believe... I believe that that marijuana use does FAR MORE GOOD THAN HARM. ---- As for me, the logic that finally broke my Christian Faith was that "God imbued within all men and women, and all creatures of the world, a necessity (instinct) to QUESTION EVERYTHING... and to NEVER take anything on face value. Therefore, why would HE say that we must BLINDLY BELIEVE WHAT THE BIBLE TELLS US... or we will go to Hell... For All Eternity." --- Not logical. Does not compute. --- And now that you know that God quite possibly put marijuana on the Earth, as a means for obtaining a more open connection to HIM... How could you possibly condone or support the government's banning of your possession or use of it? From a freedom of religion standpoint alone, such a ban is unconstitutional, as are ALL LAWS that seek to protect us from ourselves. ---- Mankind has used marijuana from the beginning of time. A tomb unearthed in Siberia several years ago, held the well-preserved remains and possessions of a "warrior of the steppes" dating back nearly 3,000 years. What was in that little pouch attached to his belt? A small bag of CANNIBUS! Given that fact, and the fact that hemp and cannibus growth (as a crop) had been promoted in America since before the nation's founding, up to the 1900s... How did our elected leaders of 1937 ever think they had any right whatsoever, to place a ban on it's possession or use? (find those details here: http://www.drugwarrant.com/articles/why-is-marijuana-illegal/ ) . Marijuana use and Cannibus cultivation IS going to become legal again in the United States -- and it's going to happen much sooner than people ever imagined. When it does, will you continue to close your mind to it's possibilities? Will you continue to forsake the closer connection to God, that He has provided for you through the spiritual use of Cannibus? --- That will be your choice. Just as it is your choice to blindly believe that the Bible is the word of God, and evidentiary proof of anything... any more than this blog post is evidence that what I believe is true. You can all believe what you want. Just stop trying to make me live in accordance with YOUR beliefs. LEGALIZE MARIJUANA NOW so I can get even closer to my God, your God, Our God. It's kind of hard to do that and hold onto a job these days. -- (PS - (1.) Marijuana is not addictive. I routinely quit smoking for months on end, and routinely quit at the drop of a hat. (2.) I do not advocate -- under any circumstances -- being under the influence of marijuana when you are driving, or when you are at work. It is simply not safe and you cannot be optimally effective under it's influence. If you are going to imbibe marijuana, you should only do so if you've got a few hours of free time in which you will not be operating any kind of motor vehicles or machinery. (3.) While I am not an opponent of marijuana‘s recreational, even daily use -- I would argue against the urge to remain “High” all of the time, or even the majority of the time. As said before, you are very relaxed and less effective when you are under marijuana’s influence, and such a mind state is not conducive for motivating you to accomplish all of the things that you need and want to accomplish in your life, or that you need to get done on a daily basis. (4.) Peace and Good Will be unto all of you. God Bless You All. --- Michael

I am a certified drug and alcohol counselor who has used marijuana and I am a Christian. So many people are unlearned when it comes to the truth about marijuana. It is an addiction, just ask those who CAN'T stop, even when they want to. It is more harmful than cigarettes. It causes every type of cancer and lung disease that cigarettes cause. The legalization of marijuana is a big issue because there is no way to determine if you are currently high, or still under the influence of the drug. You can take a urine drug test and it will say you have THC Metabolite in your system, but that doesn't mean you are currently high. Almost every other drug is out of your system in three days, hours for alcohol, so there is a better surety of current inebriation. You can overdose on marijuana (it doesn't have to kill you for it to be an overdose.) And if there is no way to tell if you are currently high, how can any corener state that you died from marijuana? BTW - Alcohol overdose doesn't kill you, it's that fact that the alcohol anesthesizes the part of your brain that tells you to breathe so you stop breathing.

Here is my problems with keeping marijuana illegal.

1. forces people to use mch more dangerous drugs like cocaine, meth and alcohol, because it is out of the system much quicker for job related issues.

2. why can the government regulate what I do because they feel it is bad for me? when does this end? cigarettes kill more people in the U.S. (400,000 people) than drugs and alcohol and suicide and homicide put together but we dont seem to have a real problem with this. It should not be up to the govenment to decide what is bad for me.

3. Abortion kills 1,000,000 people a year and we dont seem to have a problem with that.

4. So why do so many people care if I like to get high as long as I am being responsible and harming no one else?

5. I am so tired of the P.C. bull, politicians controling our lives, and people telling me what is not good for me. Give it a rest already.

6. The article mentioned that pot should be illegal because of traffic accidents. alcohol isnt! stupid drivers arn't. what happened to just holding people accountable for their behaviors instead of making everyone suffer for the few ******** that use alcohol or in this case pot and drive. And while ZI am on the subject, If I want to affect my motivation and be lazy, and do all the things mentioned in this article, that is on me, not the government. The government is becoming way to communist in America!!!

I'm really disappointed, I have no problem with Christianity but its people like you who perpetuate the stereotype of the conniving, pushy Christians who push their beliefs on people who are weak (someone looking for help on a drug addiction). But then again maybe God and a structured religion WOULD be useful for someone battling a drug addiction. I could see how the belief in a higher power could give one strength if they needed it. Interesting I can see both sides of the argument.

I'm also really high.

OMG, What ever happened to honest research prior to publication, Well i guess this "news group" or whatever have failed to check all areas of the issue and as the NY Times and Fox network have all proven to be useless for true and honest reporting of facts. There are many papers, studies, and programs out there just using same old outdated links is getting tired. I have been looking for honest information for the anti legalization but all i have found out is that i am not a strong pro legalization activist.

Check Norml, MPP, LEAP and many other interesting groups who honestly show both aspects not just by writing alot of crap and linking to only one group of researchers, you would be surprised what is out there if you just type a few letters and actually read the facts. The rest falls into place. We are not sheep! About time we let them know that!

God bless Americans, To hell with government and their lapdog puppets.

look at why pot is illegal in the first place. was it banned for health risks? NO! some racist guy in washington was like "I dont want mexicans in MY country!!! >:( and he knew many of them grew marijuana as a cash crop and used it so he made it illegal so many of them wouldnt be able to come into this country and could be arrested on site. ALso, you can smoke tobacco at 18 which is MUCH MUCH MUCH more addicting than marijuana so why isnt it ok to smoke pot? ya there are down sides but to much of anything is a bad thing!

I think you would be surprised at how many 'Christians' smoke pot. I think you would also be surprised at the amount of people whom claimed they became closer to God through smoking marijuana.

Also, studies have shown that smoking cigarettes is WAY worse for you than smoking marijuana on almost all levels.

Thank you for coming to our site. We are here to motivate and inspire other people to living a better life without unnecessary substances. Of course, everyone gets an opinion. I can see your points and greatly appreciate the time you spent to respond to our article.

My husband and I have been Christians for a very long time, because there is so much evidence for it! No other religion touches on the amount of proof Christianity has. Not only that, God brings to your life a meaningful purpose. Check out my blog http://evidence4christianity.blogspot.com/ and see how much evidence exists!

Huge Blessings my friend!

if they got a rid of alcohol and other drugz. and replaced it with weed the world would be a better place. but you have to look at the factor of the major job losses and people desperate for cash.

How about rather than get addicted to another thing (Religion) you just start believing in yourself and recognize you are human. Marijuana is not Physically Addicting.
No one has ever died from using Marijuana (never an Overdose, or death from inhaling/using has been recorded from simply using Marijuana), so linking it to other incidents (that almost always involve stringer/dangerous drugs like Alcohol) is a simple untruth.
Hemp, Cannabis, or even plain old weed is more natural and better for your body than any other 'drug'. What other 'drug' allows you to create Textiles, Fuel, Food, and gives a nice feeling while doing it?
Plus, its the only true GREEN RESOURCE that is abundant...as it can grow in many conditions, like any "WEED" would.

This article is filled with misleading information, the driving study you posted showed that 30+% of people that came in had smoked cannabis, I cant read the reference you stated because I have to sign up for something. I believe I've heard this referenced before and it showed that only 3% of the people that had cannabis in their system were ACTUALLY DRIVING. Not to mention your other theories are direct results of prohibition.
