The differences between marinol and marijuana are not much. These drugs have the same side effects, the same mental effects, and the same healing properties except that marijuana is illegal and marinol is legal in some areas.
So let us start from the basics:
• Marinol is an FDA approved pill that is actually synthetic THC which is known to cure vomiting, nausea and help increase a person’s appetite. This drug is prescribed to individuals that are either suffering from cancer and is constantly feeling sick or is no longer hungry.
• Marijuana is an illegal plant that is grown mainly in South America, and in America, where it is dried and distributed through drug trafficking. Many people do not realize the large amount of young adults who are using and abusing alcohol. This abuse has become so significant, that before the age of 18, over 70 percent of teens have had at least one drink. NIDA, The National Institute for Drugs and Alcohol, has also discovered that people are four times more likely to become addicted to alcohol when they start to drink before the legal age limit. Educating our youth on drug and alcohol abuse is very important and helping them to say no is a big part of that.
For some teens, starting high school can involve peer pressure bullying and stressing. This is very hard to deal with emotionally and sometimes physically. This abuse could be the reason that a teen will start to drink alcohol. Many addicts that have abused alcohol for years use alcohol to numb things that could have started in high school or maybe even before. For parents who do not want this to be their child ten years down the road, help them to deal with their problems and let them know that drinking is not going to fix the problem.
